Caring for Sälen

Thommy Backner, owner and CEO of Scandinavian Resorts, is a local dynamo who has worked for many years to better Sälen’s competitive advantage.

He is highly capable and has initiated large, lavish projects aimed at driving progress in the local area and increasing tourism by staging events during the off season and summertime concerts. He has also invested in the region’s new airport, Scandinavian Mountains Airport, using his own personal funds.  

Backner has continually held various positions of responsibility in the local area, including chairman of the Olnispa project and chairman of the Turismintressenter tourism association (i.e., the model for the Destination Sälenfjällen company) and currently sits on Destination Sälenfjällen’s board of directors.
